Sanctioned Show Rules

The intent of the show rules and regulations is to provide fair competition to the exhibitors and their animals on a non-discriminating basis.

Sanctioned Show Rules:

1. Eligibility - Only animals registered in a recognized Association (International Boer Goat Assn., Inc, American Boer Goat Assn., Canadian Boer Goat Assn., and The USBGA) may be shown in official International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. Sanctioned shows. Only International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. registered animals may be awarded points. If animal is not International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. registered, owner has the option to register winning animals within five (5) business days with International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. and still be eligible to be awarded points. If winning animal is not International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. registered within allotted time, points will not be awarded.

2. The base date for computing ages for entries shall be the date the animals are to be judged, unless otherwise specified for the National Show.

3. An original certificate of registration or an “official copy”, a copy originating from the International Boer Goat Association, Inc. office by fax or email, is required for all animals six (6) months or older.

4. An original certificate, official copy, or a faxed or stamped duplicate of application made to IBGA office will work for any animal under six (6) months of age.

5. An original certificate of registration or official copy may be required for animals of any age if the show so chooses.

6. The documents specified above as the requirements for that age animal to be shown must be presented to the Show Secretary for verification before the judging begins.

7. Proof of ownership shall be the name on the registration document. Persons showing animals whose registration certificates have signed transfers that have not been processed by the International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. Office must show those animals as agent for the owner on International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. records.

8. An exhibitor that is showing an animal with a microchip as permanent identification is required to provide a microchip reader for verification of animal identity.
All of the above also applies for Non-Traditional and Junior Shows.

Non-Traditional Show Rules

1. Animals shown in the Non-Traditional Show must have Non-Traditional registration papers unless registered before April 1, 2010. In  order to be registered in the Non-Traditional herd book an animal must have at least 15% body coloring not counting the head and ears.

2. Animals that are shown in the Non-Traditional Show can NOT show in an open show if the two shows are held on        the same day or with the same judge.

Junior Show Rules
1. All exhibitors participating in a junior show must be under 19 years of age on January 1, of the current year.

2. Any animal shown in a Junior show must be registered in the youth’s name.

3. Animals that are shown in the Junior Show can NOT show in an open show if the two shows are held on the same day or with the same judge.

Sanctioned Show Regulations:
1. Shows are not officially sanctioned until approved by the International Boer Goat Association Inc. Show Committee.

2. International Boer Goat Association Inc. will not sanction two events on the same day if they are less than 300 miles apart. The International Boer Goat Association Inc. show committee will base their decision on tenure of the show.

3. International Boer Goat Association Inc. will not sanction events that are held the same days of our national show.

4. Regional shows will not be sanctioned in the region that is hosting nationals. Selection of regional show bids will not happen until after the upcoming year’s national’s location has been set.

5. The International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. Judge’s Committee reserves the right to send Trainee or Apprentice Judges to serve under a Senior Judge at any Sanctioned Show for training and/or educational purposes. It is the Apprentice Judge’s responsibility to contact the Judge’s Committee Chair, Show Superintendent, and Senior Judge.

6. It is the responsibility of the show secretary to have a copy of the show rules and regulations, bylaws, and breed standards available at all times in case any questions arise during the course of the show.

7. If an animal is registered in the International Boer Goat Assn., Inc., that registration number must be listed on the entry form.

8. An electronic copy of scheduled classes, show rules, and registration form shall be submitted to the office before show approval. Once the show is approved all documents will be placed on our website for show promotion.

9. The designation of “Official International Boer Goat Association, Inc. Show” shall be posted conspicuously at the show.

10. The show chair person and secretary are responsible for enforcing International Boer Goat Association, Inc. rules and regulations and certifying they have been met.

11. The show secretary must fill out the report of awards to turn back into the office with all unused ribbons within thirty (30) days of the show. A blatant disregard for this rule will result in a show / show chairman / show secretary being no longer eligible for future sanctioned shows.

 

Exhibitor/Judge Guidelines:
1. An exhibitor shall not knowingly show an animal that does not meet eligibility requirements.

2. An exhibitor shall not present an animal to be shown under a judge from whom it was purchased or possession taken within 6 months of the show.

3. An exhibitor shall not present an animal to be shown under a judge who is his/her immediate family, employer, employee, or co-owner/partner.

4. Any judge being co-owner with another member/owner/exhibitor shall not be allowed to judge that member’s animals for a period of six (6) months after dissolving ownership. Should this happen, all points awarded by that judge will be forfeited.

5. The exhibitor shall take caution when entering their animals in a show not to compromise the judge’s integrity.

6. If a complaint is filed with International Boer Goat Association Inc. that an animal has been given growth enhancing drugs and the complaint is found to have merit all points awarded will be forfeited.

7. No exhibitor will talk with the judge unless they are spoken to first, while in the show ring.

8. Show Secretary responsible for accuracy of show results prior to sending in to International office. (Judge is not responsible.)

DIVISION OF SANCTIONS
International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. shows may sanction any or all of the following:
• Full Blood/Purebred Bucks
• Full Blood/Purebred Does
• Percentage Does (1/2, 3/4, & 7/8 Bloods)

All events sanctioned must be held if any of the breeds are present.
Entries may not be added or withdrawn from class without permission from the ring steward after the class is in the ring and judging has started. The only possible exception is in the event that such animal was previously entered in the wrong class. The class shall not be reopened after Judge has begun announcing reasons for placement.

SELECTION OF GRAND AND RESERVE CHAMPIONS
Junior division classes and championships (Does and Bucks):
1. Any animal that is under 12 months of age shall compete as a junior.

2. Junior Grand Champion shall be selected from the first place blue ribbon winners of classes in the junior division.

3. Junior Reserve Champion shall be selected after the Junior Grand Champion and shall be selected from the animals remaining in the Junior Champion class plus the animal that stood second to the Junior Grand Champion.

Yearling division classes and champion (Does and Bucks):

1. Any animal that is 12 months to less than 24 months of age shall compete as a Yearling.

2. The Yearling Grand Champion shall be chosen from the blue ribbon winners of classes in the Yearling Division.

3. The Yearling Reserve Champion shall be selected after the Yearling Grand Champion and shall be selected from the animals remaining in the Yearling Champion class plus the animal that stood second to the Yearling Grand Champion.

Senior division classes and champion (Does and Bucks):

1. Any animal that is 24 months of age or older shall compete as a senior. A buck must have offspring resulting from live coverage; a doe must be visibly pregnant or have kidded by 24 months of age. Any animals that do not meet these requirements are not eligible to show.

2. The Senior Grand Champion shall be selected from the Division Champions..

3. The Senior Reserve Champion may be selected after the Senior Grand Champion has been selected and shall be selected from those remaining in Senior Champion Class plus the animal that stood second to the Senior Grand Champion.

Overall Junior, Yearling and Senior divisions (Does and Bucks):

1. Overall Grand Champion shall be selected from the Division Champions.

2. Overall Reserve Champion shall be selected from the remaining Division Champions and the Reserve Champion of the Overall Champion’s division.

POINTS EARNED BY COMPETITION
Animals shall compete in the appropriate age group, according to the birth date recorded on the registration certificate. Animals will not be awarded points for wins in younger age classes than they are eligible to compete.

Animal must have legible tattoo before it enters the show ring to receive points. The tattoo must match the registration certificate. The registration number(s) shown on the certificate(s) must match the official class forms.

Tattoo not matching Registration Certificate, or tattoos that are missing or illegible, shall result in that animal being disqualified from the show. Registration papers should be verified by show officials against information provided by exhibitors upon check-in of the animals. The Judge must verify tattoos, by using registration papers on animals that are awarded Grand and Reserve Grand Champion.

Pair and group class entries are exempt from receiving additional points from their competition in the pair and group classes.

COMPLAINTS AND PENALTIES

All complaints filed by International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. members, fair officials or the exhibitors pertaining to the ethics and competency of a judge or the ethics and actions of an exhibitor are to be referred to the International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. Judges Committee and/or Ethics Committee. A copy of all documentation should be sent to the International Boer Goat Association Inc. office with the appropriate fees and a second copy to the chairperson of the relevant committee either the judges committee or ethics committee. A witness signature or corroborating statement is recommended. Complaints must be filed with-in 90 days of the incident.


All complaints are to be sent with a $150.00 deposit with $100.00 being refundable if any merit is found in the complaint, to defray the expense of reviewing such complaint, to the International Boer Goat Assn., Inc. office.
